Heather Woodroe of Prim Design is not only a gifted designer but a great supporter of Signature Finishes.

We thank you Heather for falling in love with our Farrow & Ball® paints as well as keeping our many local artisans within our walls supported with frequent visits.  She truly believes in supporting her local community.  She collaborates with a whole team of professionals to service her clients and her work speaks volumes.  Let’s take a look at her before and after of her beautiful kitchen!:

Wow!  It has both a clean modern feel with the white tile and gorgeous marble and her choice of Farrow and Ball® Lamp Room Gray® has completely changed the look of her existing cabinets.  The Modern Eggshell finish is a perfect choice for facing the rigors of day to day wear and tear.  She says it has performed beautifully to constant cleaning regiments.  I love that the peninsula has ample seating capacity and the extended counter space is brilliant that flanks the wall where she repurposed the two antique doors into her “chippy” finished wall.  The texture provides the perfect balance of adding warmth to this kitchen.

Lamp Room Gray® is also her color choice in her laundry room.  She chose a more matte finish for her walls so the rich pigments in the paint will create subtle hues of variated colors as the rays of light change throughout the day.  (I love how our Farrow & Ball® brush board wall demonstrates the shift in color range as demonstrated on the curved sample boards.)  She can also rest easy as there is no off-gasses released as is the case when using latex paints.  Farrow & Ball paints are produced in Dorset, England since 1946 with the strictest of care in creating the finest ingredients for their products.  At 570 square feet for coverage on their Estate® Emulsion it is roughly 200 square feet more than your average gallon of latex with no smell as you are applying it.  You can paint your bedroom today and sleep in your room tonight without suffering that headache producing latex aroma.  There is no chance of a mistint as the paint is produced at the factory in large vats and then packaged on site so there is no miscalculating the formula.  The color palette is carefully curated at 132 choices with 7 different finishes for both interior and exterior applications.  Pick up a sample size in store or online and enjoy a superb designer choice today!

The Asa Waters Mansion Called!

OK, actually it was the Millbury Women’s Club who called!

But, of course I am most grateful to oblige. IMG_5252I was invited to be the guest speaker at the women’s club and what an honor to speak to the lovely ladies of Millbury to discuss my business,  Signature Finishes.  I discussed how I have evolved as an artist from my career as a faux finisher to opening my brick and mortar in 2013 in Grafton, MA and my second location in Cape Neddick, Maine in 2014.  I brought many paint samples along and explained the difference between milk paint, chalk paint®, and wall paints.  I was pleased with the interest shown and a good number of questions asked.  Several ladies in the audience had taken a variety of workshops I offer so they of course were the rockstars of the group being well familiar with the products!

What a lovely setting they provided me.  If you are not familiar with the Asa Waters Mansion , it was designed by Asher Benjamin and is located at 123 Elm Street in Millbury, MA and was the home of Asa Waters, born November 2, 1769 – December 24, 1841, He was an American gunsmith and industrialist.  He earned a patent for turning a gun barrel in a lathe.  In 1823 he was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives, formed the Millbury Bank in 1825 and served as Vice President of the Worcester County Horticultural Society from 1843-1844.  One of his eight children became the mother of President William Howard Taft who also visited the mansion.  Quite the legacy of the building wouldn’t you say?  The beautiful building has been listed on the National Register of Historical Places in Worcester County since 1978.  At present it can be rented for weddings and special events and is truly a local treasure.  Several years ago I attended a Christmas tea hosted by the Mansion and it was such a special event to experience.

The Millbury Women’s Club sure can put on a spread! Such a beautiful array of food and desserts galore.  This is my kind of club to belong to!  LOL!  You will want to join for the community service but you’ll stay for the food!

The rooms are so well appointed and the architecture is so New England!  There is truly no place like home for New England colonial style.  It is a captured moment in history.

F3ED07C4-73BA-4D33-A008-90C1B0293BDFIt was an exciting evening for sure…tough to say good-bye but rewarding and a true honor to have been invited to speak on such hallowed historic grounds!

Thank you once again for the honor Millbury Women’s Club!

Best,

Maureen

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint

Another visit to The Country Living Fair.

Annie Sloan and an Antique Fair?

What could be more perfect?…

Two of my favorite pastimes combined: painting and antiquing?…count me in!   I don’t generally take much time off but how could I pass up another opportunity to take a paint workshop with Annie Sloan?  It is such a treat to be on the other end of the workshop scene.  Just show up and start to paint and then listen to all of the talk of the new upcoming products, hear the exciting direction the company is going and most importantly networking with fellow stockists!  I left the workshop with renewed energy and so many creative ideas it was very inspirational!   I’m sworn to secrecy about the new products but all in due time you will be as amazed as I was!…

IMG_5063I also had the opportunity to work in Annie’s booth at the fair and assist with a workshop that she amazingly taught with 75 participants.  We only had an hour or so to complete a stenciled tote bag and it was impressive the range of individuality that was shown.  I love that Annie likes to kick her shoes off!  She is so relaxed and free spirited and fun to be around!

She had quite the busy schedule teaching her stockists, hosting workshops for the public and several speaking engagements during the course of the fair as well as book signing and working with customers at the booth.  Everyone was very taken with this talented lady and what she has accomplished with creating a furniture painting revolution.  She is the originator of the one and only Chalk Paint®!

Aside from Annie’s booth being a big hit, I was able to peruse the grounds to visit the many vendors on exhibit.  I so enjoyed the show and all of the shopping and the weather was perfect as well.  Yes, I did happen to find a grand treasure to bring home…well several of course and you can look for a cleaned up and painted (or repainted) version of my treasures on the shop floor soon.  I will keep you guessing amongst the photos below.

If you ever have the opportunity to visit Rhinebeck, NY I would highly recommend that you do so.  It is such a lovely area and an easy ride from central Massachusetts.  In addition there are some National Historic Parks such as the FDR Presidential Library and Museum as well as the Vanderbilt Mansion both in nearby Hyde Park.  Two national treasures and a must see for both.

Now I am looking forward to visiting the Country Living Fair in Columbus, OH in the Fall! More workshops, more shopping and much more fun to be had!

Best,

Maureen
